AI Terminal
Requires SuperAvailable on: Web · iOS · Android
On this page
The AI Terminal is a chat that works the scanner and the market data for you. Describe a setup and it builds and runs the scan. Ask about a stock, a sector or your own saved scans and it looks up the data before it answers. The scanner shows you every filter; the terminal is for when you'd rather say what you want and check the result.
It researches and screens. It won't tell you what to buy, sell or hold. The model can get things wrong, so check what it tells you against the data: the note under the chat box says the same.
Who can use it
The AI Terminal is part of Super and Super Pro. On the Free plan the terminal still opens, but in place of the chat you see what it does and an Upgrade to Super button. Signed out, you also get Already subscribed? Sign in. The same prompt replaces the scanner's plain-English scan box.
If you were on a paid plan before, your old chats are kept. They come back when you upgrade.
Tour
Nothing changes in your account until you confirm a card like this one.
- Open the terminal: on the web, the round button at the bottom right of every page. In the app, the Ask AI button above the tab bar, or More > AI Terminal.
- Chat history and New chat: your past chats, searchable, and a fresh one. On the web each chat also opens as a tab.
- Messages: the answer, and each lookup the terminal made to get it. On the web, a line such as Used 3 tools opens to list them.
- Cards: a scan's matches, a button to a page in the app, or a change waiting for you to confirm.
- Composer: type in Ask about the market…. The library icon opens the prompt library. Under the box, the terminal shows how much of today's AI usage you've spent.
Press Enter to send and Shift+Enter for a new line. Esc closes the terminal, and Ctrl+/ or ⌘/ opens the prompt library.
Ask for a scan
- Open the terminal.
- Describe the stocks you want, with numbers where you have them: "large caps with RSI(14) under 30 and rising volume".
- Send it. The terminal turns your words into filters, runs the scan and shows a card with the match count and the first tickers.
- Ask for changes in plain words: "only Technology", "drop anything under $5". Each change reruns the scan.
- Click View all … in Scanner (or Open in Scanner) on the card to open the full scan, with every filter it used. Edit it there like any scan.
When you ask for a filter your plan doesn't include, the terminal keeps it in the scan locked and switched off, and the rest runs. See Locked filters.
To start a chat about one stock, right-click its symbol on the web, or long-press it in the app, and choose Ask AI about it. On the dashboard, the Market State card's Explain button opens a chat that explains the readings. On these help pages, Ask scanr AI opens a chat that answers from the page you're reading.
Explain results
The terminal answers from data it fetches during the chat. It can explain:
- A scan it ran. Ask what the matches have in common, or for a closer look at one of them.
- Your saved scans. Name one ("run my scan Oversold large caps") and it runs the saved version. Ask how your scans have performed and it reads their backtested results, and says they're simulated.
- A stock. Price history, key levels, earnings, news and fundamentals, or two companies side by side.
- The market. What's moving, how indices and sectors are doing, relative strength rankings, this week's themes and the Market State readings.
It can't see what's on your screen. To ask about a scan you built in the scanner, save it and refer to it by name.
Save a scan and turn on alerts
The terminal can change things in your account: save a scan, update its filters, rename or delete it, turn its alerts on or off, edit a watchlist or create a share link. It asks first.
Turn this on once:
- Go to Account > Settings.
- Under AI assistant, turn on Let the AI assistant make changes.
It's off until you turn it on. While it's off, the terminal tells you where to make the change yourself.
Then ask in the chat, for example "save this scan as Oversold large caps" or "turn on alerts for Oversold large caps". The terminal answers with a card:
- A card to confirm. For anything that creates, deletes or changes more than one setting, the card shows what will change and waits. Choose Confirm (or the card's own button, such as Delete or Create link) to make the change, or Dismiss to leave everything as it is. A card you don't answer expires after an hour.
- A done card with Undo. A one-setting switch you can reverse, such as alerts on or off, adding a scan to favorites or pausing all alerts, happens right away. The card says what changed and offers Undo.
Every change the terminal makes is recorded on your account.
A few rules to know:
- Saving needs a scan that ran. The terminal saves the scan it last ran in this chat, never a version it hasn't run. A save always makes a new saved scan. To change one you already have, ask it to update that scan's filters.
- Scan alerts tell you when a saved scan finds new tickers. A scan pinned to a past date with Time Machine can't have alerts.
- A watchlist made from a scan copies the tickers once. It doesn't follow the scan, and it holds up to 1,000 tickers.
- A share link opens for anyone who has it, without signing in.

What the terminal can do, by plan:
Each scan follows your plan's filter rules, the same as in the scanner.
Usage limits
- Credits measure the work behind an answer. A quick question costs little; a request that runs several scans and lookups costs more. The terminal shows the share you've used, not the credit count.
- One daily budget. The scanner's plain-English scan box and its refine box draw from the same credits.
- Reset. Usage resets at midnight UTC. The composer shows the reset in your local time.
- Running out mid-answer. An answer that's already running finishes. You can't send the next one until the reset, or until you upgrade.
- Out of time. An answer that runs past 150 seconds stops, and the terminal adds a note that it was cut off. Ask again with a narrower question.
scanr picks the model for each answer. You don't choose one.
Privacy
- Your chats are saved to your account, so they appear in Chat history on the web and in the app. Delete a chat there and it's gone for good, with its messages. Deleting your account deletes your chats.
- What's sent to the AI model. Your messages, the earlier turns of that chat and the data the terminal looks up go to the AI provider that writes the answer. The provider is not allowed to train its models on them. Don't put personal details in a prompt. The privacy policy has the full terms.
- Your scanr data. The terminal reads your saved scans, alerts and watchlists only when a question needs them. If you have an API add-on, turning off Personal data access on the API tokens page also stops these reads.
- Reports. A report sends a reference to the reply. Your chat messages go with it only if you tick the box to include them.
Report a problem
When an answer is wrong or a step fails, report it from the reply.
- Under the reply, click Report a problem.
- Under What happened?, describe it. This is optional.
- To let the team replay the chat, include your chat messages.
- Choose Send report.
Contact and feedback covers the other ways to reach support.
Tips
- Change a scan without starting over. In the app, type the change in the AI Refine box under the scan's filters. The new filters apply straight away; tap Accept all to keep them or Reject all to go back.
- Put numbers in the request. "RSI under 30" builds the filter you mean; "oversold" leaves the terminal to pick a threshold.
- Check the filters before you trust a scan. Open it in the Scanner, or ask the terminal to list the filters it used.
- Keep one task per chat. A long chat resends its history every turn, so it costs more credits and runs slower.
- Ask for one stock or one question at a time when an answer is cut off. A narrow question finishes inside the time limit.
- Save prompts you reuse. See AI Terminal prompts.
