These recipes find stocks with a scheduled event coming up or just behind them: an earnings report, an ex-dividend date or a stock split. They don't look at price behavior at all. They tell you when something happens, so you can plan around it.
Every recipe here runs on Free. The windows count calendar days from today in New York time, so the lists change at midnight ET.
Recipes
Earnings This Week
Stocks reporting earnings today or in the next 7 days, among names averaging over $10M a day in dollar volume.
Filters
- earnings report in the next 7 days
- SMA(bar_dollar_volume,50)>10M
- How to use it
Check whether each company reports before the open or after the close, and how the stock moved after its last few reports.
- Warning
It says when a stock reports, not which way it will move. The list is longest in late January, April, July and October, and short between seasons.
Ex-Dividend This Week
Stocks whose regular dividend goes ex today or in the next 7 days, among names averaging over $10M a day. Special one-off dividends are left out.
Filters
- regular dividend going ex in the next 7 days
- SMA(bar_dollar_volume,50)>10M
- How to use it
To receive the dividend you must own the shares before the ex-date. Check the payment amount against the price.
- Warning
The price usually opens lower on the ex-date by about the dividend, so buying just before it doesn't add the payment on top.
Forward Stock Splits
Forward splits that went ex in the last 30 days or go ex in the next 30, among names averaging over $10M a day.
Filters
- forward split from 30 days ago to 30 days from now
- SMA(bar_dollar_volume,50)>10M
- How to use it
Check the split ratio and the ex-date. Companies usually split after a long run has pushed the price high.
- Warning
Forward splits are rare, a handful a month, so the list is often short and sometimes empty. A split doesn't change what the company is worth.
Recent Reverse Splits
Reverse splits that went ex in the last 30 days, among names averaging over $5M a day.
Filters
- reverse split in the last 30 days
- SMA(bar_dollar_volume,50)>5M
- How to use it
Read why the company split. Most reverse splits lift a low price back above an exchange's minimum.
- Warning
The list is a list of resets, not a quality screen. A newly shrunken float can also move sharply in either direction.

Tips
- Change the window to look further ahead: the event filter takes 1 to 366 days, with 7, 14, 30 and 90 a click away.
- Add EPS filters to an earnings scan to find reports that beat estimates. See Stock events.
- On Time Machine scans, only windows that end on or before the as-of date work.
