Scan alerts
Requires SuperAvailable on: Web · iOS · Android
A scan alert reruns one of your saved scans in the background and tells you when it finds new tickers: stocks that weren't in its results the last time it ran. Use it for a setup you'd otherwise rescan by hand all day. A price or move alert watches the price of tickers you already know. A scan alert finds the ones you don't.
Scan alerts need Super or Super Pro, because only paid plans rerun saved scans in the background.
Turn on a scan alert
The quickest way is when you save the scan.
- Build and run your scan, then save it from the Filters menu.
- Switch on Alert me when this scan finds new tickers.
- The line under it, Sends via, says where the alert sends. Click Change to pick other channels for this scan.
- Save.
You can also start from the composer: click New alert, pick A saved scan under When, and pick the scan. If the scan already alerts, the composer says "This scan already alerts. Saving updates its settings."
Settings
The composer shows a scan alert as a sentence: "Your saved scan finds at least 1 new ticker, checked every 5 min."
With the alert on, scanr reruns the scan every 5 minutes. With it off, the saved scan's results still refresh about once an hour, without telling you.
What you get
The notification names the scan and how many new tickers it found, followed by a few of them, such as "Breakouts: 3 new tickers". Open it to see the scan with its new tickers. In the Inbox, the row's detail shows when the scan refreshed, the new tickers and how many tickers match in all.
The limit counts alerts, not channels: one alert sent to your phone and your email counts once. Lower it in Delivery > Daily limits > Saved-scan alerts. The count resets at midnight UTC. Past the limit, alerts still land in your Inbox.
Recipes
Hot bull tickers
Stocks making a big move on heavy volume.
Filters
- Today’s volume>1M
- Any of
- Percent price change≥15%
- All of
- Relative volume(bar_dollar_volume,60)>3
- Percent price change>5%
- How to use it
Set New tickers to 1 and a short cooldown, so you hear about each new mover while it's still moving.
- Warning
On a strong day this scan adds names every few minutes. Raise the cooldown if the alerts pile up.
Oversold RSI
Stocks whose RSI has dropped into oversold territory.
Filters
- RSI(c,14)<33.33
- How to use it
Leave the cooldown at 30 minutes and check each new name's chart for support before you act.
Tips
- Save the scan with a narrow universe before you turn on its alert. A scan that matches hundreds of stocks finds new tickers on nearly every rerun.
- Raise New tickers to 3 or more on a broad scan, so one name drifting in and out doesn't alert you.
- Keep one setup per saved scan. Each alert then tells you which setup fired.
